Perfect AC charger for way cheaper than Palm products

I needed a second charger for work as the battery life can go quick with the Pre and this charger is perfect. Its one piece, not two, like the Palm AC charger set, and since you dont have to buy multiple pieces, it is so much cheaper. It charges quite fast as well. So far, Im very please with this charger.

For the money this charger is great. It charges my Pre quickly even while playing the MP3s I have loaded on it. I bought it to keep at work since I didnt need the actual USB cable there and am glad I did. If you dont need the full USB cable to plug your Pre into a PC/Mac, I recommend this charger.

Pros: Works prefectly with Touchstone after minor fix
Cons: Minor fix needed, charges only no USB cable

I also found the plug didnt fit into the back of a Touchstone charger, but was able to Dremel the extra plastic sides down to an acceptable size. Now powers the Touchstone at my work desk without any trouble.

Not enough power for the Touchstone

I tried to use it with the touchstone, but it doesnt quite have enough output so it toggles between charging and not. You might be lucky enough to get one that might work, but Itd be working beyond its spec.
It does work fine as a charger via the usb port and Ill be keeping it for that.

Caveat if you plan to use w/ Touchstone

The micro USB cable does not fit into the Touchstone charging base. "Minor Surgery" with an xacto knife will solve the problem. The height is fine, but youll need to trim the sides.

Cons: NOT compatible with the TouchStone

I really does work, but only in the USB port of the Pre. It will not work consistently with the TouchStone charger. Mostly a bad rating due to not holding to the listed spec.

Did NOT work with Touchstone after shaving

I shaved the plastic down so that it plugged securely into the Touchstone, but the Pre did the charging/not-charging dance. At no time during dozens of attempts with the Touchstone did the Pre stay in the charging state as long as one second. When the charger was plugged directly into the Pre, the Pre did charge. The product doesnt advertise Touchstone compatibility, so this review is more of a counter to the other reviews saying it does work with Touchstone and less of a review against the product itself.

does NOT charge a Palm Pre 2 (Verizon)

I bought this for use with my brand new Palm Pre 2 from Verizon. When I plugged it into my phone, the battery icon indicated that it was charging. After several hours, I checked the charge on my phone and found that it had gone down by a few percent. If you have a Palm Pre 2 from Verizon, do not waste your money on this charger!
