StarStarStarStarStar Simple, Effective Headset for Pre
User: Realist Dreamer, Jun 28, 2009

Pros:  Magnets, Lanyard Tie, Mulitpurpose Button
Cons:  None

First off, dont expect ear-popping bass from this design. Not that bass is lacking, just that some expect little drivers to do the same as big drivers.

This is a minimalist inspired headset. Everything is simple, well though out and effective. A "lanyard tie" ties the right and left cords together to minimize knotting. Small magnets on the outside of the earbuds link them together for the same purpose.

The multipurpose button controls talking and Pandora, including pause, play and FF. Mic works fine and is just the right distance down the cord.

Oh yeah. Sound quality. Quite good on the Pre using Pandora and the music app. Not sure of the db sensitivity rating, but loud enough to get inspired at the gym. Thats how I judge my headphones.

Last week, played a warmup set of tennis with these in my ear and they seldom came loose. Took a call during warming up and could easily hold a conversation, play and then switch back to Pandora after the call - Nice!

StarStarStarStarStar Well Done

I think these are pretty good earbuds. I have sensitive ears but lack the funds for a really nice pair. What I have came free with the phone and they are more comfortable than other earbuds I have purchased. The sound quality is actually really good, I plugged them into my computer to see how they would sound with a little more power behind them and they functioned rather well. The magnetic pieces on the side are convenient and keep them in place behind your neck. I havent tested them as a handless unit, but I am sure if they work as well as the rest of it I will be very satisfied.

StarStarStarStarStar Good for starters

These sound pretty good for being the included headset with the phone, but this style never stays in my ears very well. Thats no fault of the design, but Palm needs to replicate this headset with in-ear headphones as well, and Ill be first in line to buy it. Love the minimal cord, mic and control button.

StarStarStarStarStar Terrible sound quality
User: Brian Saghy, Aug 24, 2009

Pros:  Magnetic clasp behind neck, in-line mic
Cons:  Clips sound, handles loud volume terribly, does not isolate sound, poor frequency response, poor bass

I dont expect much from OEMs stock headphones-ever. Theyre going to put in the cheapest headset they can find to just barely meet customer expectations.

That is exactly what these are. Kudos for the in-line mic and unique magnets to hold the buds behind your neck. Too bad the sound quality is terrible for music. Fine for a conversation, but thats about it.

StarStarStarStarStar Okay at best
User: Aitikin K, Dec 27, 2009

Pros:  Included with Pre
Cons:  Quality and Comfort

I was very glad to see a stereo headset included with my Pre, unfortunately the stereo headset included seems based off of Apples lackluster iPod headphones which are just a headache.

The sound on these are...at best decent. Theyre about what you can expect from a freebie. The feel of them is the real problem. I have had some quality earbuds over the years, and as such am used to wearing buds for a longer period of time. Unfortunately these have the second worst feel to them, next to iPod headphones only.

I understand the desire to make things more Apple-esqe, but this is one time you definitely shouldnt try to be just like Apple.
