StarStarStarStarStar Great Handsfree Device for Blackberry
User: Russ Eaglin, Oct 31, 2010

Pros:  Good clarity
Cons:  At times it could use additional volume

Could not go through my busy day without this device. Simple to set up and use. Does not make you sound like you are in a cave, it has good clarity.
StarStarStarStarStar VM-605 made my week!
User: Larry Bizarro, Oct 29, 2010
Getting my VM-605 Bluetooth Premium Visor Handsfree device made my week. It works great and enhances my ride anywhere while encouraging more hands-free behavior which always increases personal safety while driving.
Five stars from this guy!
StarStarStarStarStar Works Great!
User: Mari Bushway, Sep 2, 2010
I have had this for several months and now I cant imagin life without it. With more and more states making it illegal to talk on the phone while driving, I am very glad I have this hands free. This works much better than any earpiece I have ever owned. My friends can not tell if I am on my phone or this hands free.

I still have not played with the radio option because its own speaker is so good that I have had no need.
StarStarStarStarStar Excellent
User: Jay Harker, Apr 30, 2010
The perfect solution for those who do not have bluetooth in their vehicles. The device is easy to pair with your BB and very simple to use. I love being able to take calls thru my stereo system while speaking into the microphone right above me on the visor. If I am playing music when a call comes in, the music pauses and then resumes after the call is disconnected. Call quality is excellent. I highly recommend this accessory to any BB owner who likes to listen to their music anytime and be safe on the road.
StarStarStarStarStar Would LOVE to have one

I travel over 300 miles to see my folks every other month and this would be so convenient for that use. Also live in the city so handsfree device would be AWESOME
StarStarStarStarStar Do you need to have blue tooth in your stereo?
User: Tami D, Dec 19, 2009
Does anyone know if your car stereo has to be blue tooth equipped?

thank you
StarStarStarStarStar Amazing !

Pros:  everything
Cons:  muffled sound for calls

This is the best unit Ive ever owned. I now have all my playlists on my storm2 and no longer need my I-pod. music is played crystal clear with no static like so many fm modulators Ive tried with the ipod(the best one i found is the monster one and this is just as good or even better)
voice dialing and number dialing hasnt missed a beat yet, no more looking through my phone book while im driving down the road. It works flawlessly and I say that because it works better than the actual voice dialing on the storm2 and better than the app I payed for and didnt work at all I found.

Only 2 negatives, 1 the battery on my phone doesnt last to long when streaming music through the stereo like that, no biggie cause I just plug in the car charger anyways.
2 the sound is a bit muffled for phone calls played through your stereo but my friend has the same truck just a year newer than mine and he has a factory bluetooth communication like for hist stereo and it sounds exactly the same as with my vm-605 so Im assuming its not the unit but just the way it is if you want to hear your phonecalls through your car speakers, if it bothers you enough though you just turn the fm transmition off and use the speaker in the unit itself and everything is good again.
StarStarStarStarStar great unit
User: David R, Oct 30, 2009

Pros:  best fm modulator, ease of use, sound quality
Cons:  its not free?

This is a great piece of hardware. If you read the directions, particularly about scanning for open FM frequencies, this is by far the best FM modulator I have ever used. I use it with my Storm, and can simultaneously use the GPS, music and phone features seamlessly through my cars speakers. People say that they can not tell I am on a speaker phone. I have even used this in my convertible (which I gave up using the phone in altogether), and people could hear me.

Buy one - you will be happy (if you can read)

I communte 20 mins each way to work! I am always worrying my husband because I do not have a hands free device. This would be perfect for my busy schedule. As a teacher I am always calling parents, other teachers, and many differnt clubs to confirm details. Based on the ratings I would love to have one!

StarStarStarStarStar Best bluetooth speakerphone Ive tried
User: Alberto Plantilla, Aug 19, 2009

Pros:  Multi-Point, Sounds Great and loud, Announces caller ID, Stereo Transmitter
Cons:  Price, FM transmitter not as strong as it should be

I think youll find this speakerphone very useful and reliable. Sounds great on both ends, and the fact that I can play the audio to my car stereo via the FM transmitter (thanks Slacker/Pandora). The really cool thing is that it does announce caller ID, which truly allows me to leave my phone in my pocket when I get in the car.

Also Ive used other bluetooth speakerphones, and ran into issues where I basically forgot to turn it off before leaving the car and the battery would be drained. Ive done that a couple of times on this device, and found out the device automatically powered itself off when there was no connectivity.

I absolutely recommend the device, besides bluetooth headsets or so 2000 and LATE
StarStarStarStarStar Easy to Pair - a little weak on volume
User: Mary Hansen, Jun 22, 2011
User friendly, easy to pair, good sound quality. The other person on the call reports good clear reception, so the device works well on that count. Volume seems a little on the anemic side, but I will run it through my stereo to correct that minor problem. Good product.
StarStarStarStarStar Best voice quality with my Pearl
User: Steve Payne, Dec 23, 2009
Maybe a problem with my Pearl but this is the first BT HF I’ve used with my Pearl that doesn’t have people on the other end constantly saying: “Huh?”…

I’ve tried Moto T505, T305, HF850, Jabra SP700, BlueAnt ST Light and ST3, Movon MK20, Bury System 8, and at least one from Parrot and a couple others I can’t remember. Each had characteristics I liked, but NONE were adequately clear to the person on the other end. The VM-605 is reported to sound BETTER than talking directly through my Pearl. This is used mostly in a PowerStroke diesel Ford pickup. The diesel cackle seems to befuddle microphones. ) The VM-605 handles that diesel background noise superbly.

All is not perfection with the VM605, however. I got spoiled by the sound quality and functionality of an old Kyocera 3035 pro-installed car kit. For years, I’d simply snap the Kyocera into its cradle and it just plain worked. Snap it out to take it with me when leaving the truck and it’s disconnected. Simple. Reliable. Brainless.

Bluetooth devices, in contrast, must connect and be manually DISconnected when leaving the vehicle. Unless you venture beyond Bluetooth range, the silly thing will remain connected to the phone and incoming calls will ring inside the vehicle and customers will wonder why you’re not answering the phone. This is particularly obnoxious when parking the vehicle just outside of a motel room and forgetting to shut the BT HF down and the wife rings all night wondering why I’m not answering… ) This is true of virtually all of the Bluetooth handsfree solutions and is not meant to pick on the VM605. BlueAnt’s ST 3 does an admirable job of automatically connecting and DISconnecting but the ST3 simply didn’t have usable sound quality at the other end through my Pearl.

Adding insult to the disconnect process is the 4 second push and hold required to shut down the VM605. 4 seconds seems insignificant to the guy sitting at his desk designing these things, but it’s an irritation that a simple toggle switch could mostly eliminate. Especially when getting in and out of the truck a dozen times a day.

ALL of these visor mount “kits” are a pain when the sun is in your eyes and you must adjust the visor and still talk. I Velcro’d the VM605 to the driver’s side windshield pillar and it works fine there. A charging cable routed along the pillar keeps it charged. Charging of any of these solutions is simply NOT practical, or even safe, while hanging on the visor. The wire visor clip got the job done, when I used it, but BlueAnt’s magnetic visor clip worked way better when the visor had to be flipped over to block the sun.

The FM transmitter is great for music, but I just don’t like the things for phone conversation. Like all of these “talk over FM” speakerphones, you never know if the stereo is on, or on the right station, or IF you’re going to be able to hear the other party. They CAN hear you while you’re fighting (and cussing )) with the stereo trying to get the caller’s voice over it. Then, DON’T pull over and shut the engine off while talking over the stereo… at least if you care to continue the conversation. AHRG! Do ANY of these designers use this stuff? Again, the VM605 is no worse than any of the others in that regard. The VM605 shuts off the voice over stereo after 60 seconds of inactivity. For better AND worse. Depending on mood… ) Overall, though, the VM605 functionality is very predictable and mostly intuitive. A solid tool.

Pros: VOICE QUALITY. Especially at the other end. Easy connect. Music over the stereo is reasonable (Jabra SP700 was best at that, IMO).

Cons: That blasted 4 seconds required to shut the thing down!!! !!! )

I’d REALLY like to morph the voice quality of the VM605 with the automatic disconnect functionality of the ST 3. That’d get CLOSE to the functionality of the old snap in Kyocera.

It would be amazing to have one. My berry never leaves my side. It would be nice to have a hands free device.
StarStarStarStarStar Poor instructions
User: C Berry, Sep 14, 2009

Pros:  Sound is OK
Cons:  Havent tried calls yet

I bought this unit to listen to my tunes when I drive isolated back roads in the southwest. I was unable to get it to work the first time I used it and drove 300 miles before I figured out I have to press the Left button to turn on the FM transmitter so I can hear my tunes on my car stereo. I had trouble reading the directions, you need a magnifying glass, and I didnt see any directions about having to press the left button to make it work, even after already having turned it on. Like so many advanced products, there is poor documentation and you are left to figure it out for yourself. And they wonder why phone support costs so much money.
StarStarStarStarStar Its Okay.
User: Peggy Nye, Sep 28, 2011

Pros:  Easy setup. Speaker quality is good on my end
Cons:  Power/answer/end call button doesnt work every time.

Need to press the button a number of times before it will turn on/off/answer/end calls. People on the other end tell me they hear an echo. I havent tried the setup through the car radio yet. Maybe that sounds better. Other than that the setup was easy.
StarStarStarStarStar Good but not Great!
User: Kris Duncan, Apr 28, 2010
Pros: Easy to use, Speakerphone portion works well, Looks Good/ Clean, Works on same adaptor as your BlackBerry (& comes with Car Adaptor so bonus if you dont have one already... a bonus over competitors)
Cons: FM Modulator is not powerful enough giving poor quality sound over radio (the main reason I purchased this!), Visor clip can fly off really easily.

For strictly speakerphone use: 4/5
For FM Modulated use (over radio): 1/5
StarStarStarStarStar This is basically a recased Jabra SP700
User: Mike Lipphardt, Nov 5, 2009

Pros:  Looks great - a work of art
Cons:  Poor FM system and your callee may not be able to hear you well

This handsfree works about as well as any - that is not superbly, but adequately. However it is very overpriced. My contacts had a hard time hearing me over background noise when my car was in motion. You are paying for the Blackberry name. If you compare it to the Jabra SP700 you will find that despite the difference in case shapes, they are identical - right down to the position and placement of the icons, the voice prompts, and how well (or poorly) the FM transmitter works. Buy the Jabra for half the price of the Blackberry. Its also good looking and works precisely the same way.
StarStarStarStarStar Could be better
User: Sonny Haleem, Aug 21, 2009

Pros:  Sleek, works well with Blackberry Bold, GPS feature is a definite plus
Cons:  Terrible FM radio transmission, cuts off after 1 minute of no use.

This product works well with my Blackberry Bold as long as I dont try to run it through my car stereo. It is probably the worst that Ive ever heard through the FM band on my particular car stereo. Other than that, this is a very good hands free device. It has a very clear sound through the visor mounted speaker and the way that it allows my GPS system on my phone to work through it is a plus. People have told me that they hear me very clearly when I use it during calls. Ive had it for about 2 weeks now and so far so good. Im waiting for someone to come up with a system that can be transmitted through a car stereo system clearly and without problems.
StarStarStarStarStar Cannot Use on Second Phone
User: Cheryl Sullivan, Aug 12, 2009
I bought this when I owned my Pearl and it worked fine. There was a lot of static in the calls, but it was not horrible. Ever since I bought my Tour, however, I cannot get the Tour and visor mount to find each other and connect. The Pearl connected easily. Is this product made to only work with the first phone you connect it to? Total waste of money for me at this point.
StarStarStarStarStar wouldnt pair with bb curve 8330 after 4.5 software update
User: T Crum, Nov 9, 2009

Pros:  works as promised
Cons:  unable to use after phone software updates

The item worked fine, then 2 days later, I did a software update on my phone to the v4.5 for the bb curve 8330, now I keep getting a message that my phone cannot pair with vm605 anymore. I tried to delete the vm605 from my bluetooth device list to pair it again, but it still will not pair. I looked on the net for troubleshooting, but no help. So,basically it was a waste of money. It seems to me that the device can only be used on 1 phone,so if you do any software updates or switch handsets, its useless to you.
StarStarStarStarStar not what they make it out to be...
User: John Marc, Oct 29, 2009
this device is not all its made out to be.... heres thing thing that no on seems to know... if ur on a high way full of traffic ...n the ppl in there cars decide to browse their radio... n land on the same station that your call is hook up too... they can listen into your convo... so i dunno how they allowed such a device to be launched... but they need to do something about that!!!
StarStarStarStarStar Why is everyone rating this 5 stars? And no comments?
User: John Doe, Jul 29, 2009

Pros:  Looks nice and clips to visor well
Cons:  Everything else

I dont know if I purchased a bad one but wow. I have had this for 5 days it sounds horrible connected to my radio for one. It has a very bad static when connected to my head unit and (I KNOW its not the head unit or how its hooked up) when playing music off my phone. I tried to use the hands free calling and it dropped my calls discon from bluetooth and did not even work when playing music AND trying to use Verizon Nav. I hope this is just 1 in 1000000 but I have a feeling its not.
